Award-winning actress and writer Nilaja Sun plans a summer return of her hit solo show No Child… at off-Broadway's Barrow Street Theatre. The show, which ran for 311 performances in 2006, will have a limited engagement of 40 performances beginning on June 5, with opening night set for June 19, directed by Hal Brooks.
Based on her own experience as a visiting artist in the New York City public schools, No Child... allows Sun to transform with rapid-fire precision into the teachers, students, parents, administrators, janitors and security guards who inhabit a big-city school.
After her initial off-Broadway run, Sun embarked on a national and international tour of No Child… and took home 17 awards including an Obie, a Lucille Lortel Award, two Outer Critics Circle Awards (including outstanding new American play), a Theatre World Award, Helen Hayes Award and L.A. Ovation Award.
The show's original design team includes Narelle Sissons (set), Mark Barton (lighting), Jessica Gaffney, (costume) and Ron Russell (sound).
